I also saw the other side — mismanaged technology, wasted money, unnecessary risk, frustrated people, and businesses that never received the value they should have from their IT investments.
As my career progressed, the next step would have meant moving further into corporate politics and farther away from the part of the work that mattered most to me: helping people, solving real problems, and doing the right thing even when it is not the easiest path. That was not the future I wanted.
