Co-Managed IT Services for Internal IT Teams
Add specialist expertise, service capacity and coverage where your internal IT team needs it—without outsourcing the entire IT function.
Your internal IT team remains in control. Atomic Guardian fills the gaps with practical support, escalation and technical depth.
Your IT Team Doesn’t Need Replacing. It May Need Reinforcement.
Internal IT teams balance daily support, projects, cybersecurity, specialist work, absences and escalating business demands. The challenge is rarely a lack of ownership or commitment; it is having the right capacity and expertise available at the right time. Keep ownership of your environment. Add Atomic Guardian where it makes sense.
That may mean covering a short-term workload increase, adding a technical specialist to a complex initiative or giving the team a reliable escalation path when an issue falls outside its day-to-day experience. The model is built around practical collaboration, clear handoffs and a shared view of the environment.
Each engagement benefits from a clear working model: who receives requests, who performs work, how escalations move, which systems are in scope and how the teams communicate. This creates a practical relationship internal IT can use without giving up control.
Augment the team
Where Atomic Guardian Can Strengthen Your IT Team
Service Desk Overflow
Add end-user support during busy periods, ticket spikes, growth, vacations or staffing shortages. Your team retains ownership of the help desk unless a different responsibility model is agreed.
Tier 2 & Tier 3 Escalation Support
Escalate difficult Microsoft 365, infrastructure, server, networking, security and complex-troubleshooting issues when deeper technical expertise is required.
Cybersecurity Operations
Supplement the internal team with cybersecurity services, endpoint protection, identity security, email security, remediation support, vulnerability management and incident response.
Network & Infrastructure
Bring in specialists for firewalls, switching, Wi-Fi, servers, virtualization, infrastructure troubleshooting and network projects. See our networking services for the broader capability.
Microsoft 365 & Cloud
Get support with Microsoft 365 administration, Entra ID and identity, security configuration, migrations, tenant-level troubleshooting and cloud-related projects.
Projects & Engineering
Add temporary or specialist capacity for migrations, infrastructure refreshes, deployments, networking, Microsoft 365 and security implementations—without hiring a permanent specialist for a time-bound project.
After-Hours & Coverage Support
Extend coverage when requirements exceed the internal team’s normal working hours. The appropriate coverage model is defined around the agreed responsibility split; no generic support window is implied.
Strategic IT Support
Draw on senior technical input for architecture, lifecycle decisions, infrastructure planning, cybersecurity priorities, technology roadmaps and major initiatives.
When Hiring Another IT Person Doesn’t Make Sense
You may need a network engineer for several hours a month, a cybersecurity specialist periodically, extra service-desk capacity during vacations, senior escalation support or project resources a few times a year. Hiring a permanent employee for every discipline may be impractical. Co-Managed IT gives your internal team access to a broader technical bench without permanently staffing every specialty.
Co-Managed IT is particularly useful when the need is real but intermittent: a backlog needs clearing, a project needs momentum, a specialist issue needs escalation or a key person needs dependable coverage. Your organization pays for the agreed capability instead of trying to maintain every specialty internally at all times.

How Co-Managed IT Works
1
Define Responsibilities
We identify what internal IT owns, what Atomic Guardian owns, where escalation occurs and where responsibilities may overlap.
2
Fill the Gaps
We provide only the capabilities, expertise, tools, coverage and capacity your team requires.
3
Work as One Team
Internal IT retains visibility, control, internal relationships and decision-making authority while we operate as an extension of the department.
4
Adjust as Requirements Change
The responsibility model can be reviewed as the organization grows, internal staff changes, projects arise or security requirements evolve.
Your Internal IT Team Stays in Control
Co-Managed IT differs from full outsourcing. Depending on the engagement, internal IT can continue to own technology strategy, budgets, purchasing decisions, user relationships, core business systems, vendor relationships, projects, security policy and infrastructure architecture. Atomic Guardian takes responsibility only for the agreed portions of the environment.
We work with the tools, documentation and processes that are relevant to the agreed service model. The purpose is to make handoffs, escalation and accountability clearer—not to introduce another layer between your team and the business.

Expertise Your Team Can Draw On
Pricing built around the model
Co-Managed IT Pricing Is Based on What You Actually Need
Every internal IT department has different responsibilities, capabilities, capacity, service gaps and coverage requirements. Pricing therefore depends on the scope of responsibility, required services, users, locations, infrastructure, technical expertise, coverage and onsite requirements where relevant.
Typical engagement areas include service-desk overflow, cybersecurity, infrastructure management, projects, escalation support or a combination of these services. We define the responsibility model first, then price the engagement around the capabilities your team actually needs.
Before proposing a model, we review the current environment, the team’s responsibilities, practical service gaps and the level of technical depth or coverage required. This gives both teams a clear basis for the engagement.
Questions answered
Co-Managed IT Services FAQs
Will Atomic Guardian replace our internal IT team?
No. Co-Managed IT is designed to augment an existing IT department. Your internal team remains in control of the areas it owns, while Atomic Guardian takes responsibility only for the agreed gaps, escalations, capacity or specialist work.
Can we choose only the services we need?
Yes. The responsibility split is built around the capabilities the internal team wants Atomic Guardian to provide. That can include one focused need, such as escalation support, or a broader combination of service desk, cybersecurity, engineering and project capacity.
Can Atomic Guardian provide Tier 2 or Tier 3 escalation support?
Yes. Escalation support is one of the core Co-Managed use cases. Internal IT can bring difficult Microsoft 365, infrastructure, network, server, security and complex-troubleshooting issues to Atomic Guardian when additional technical depth is needed.
Can you provide cybersecurity without taking over our help desk?
Yes. Cybersecurity responsibilities can be separated from service-desk responsibilities. Atomic Guardian can supplement internal IT with monitoring, vulnerability management, identity, endpoint, email and incident-response capabilities while the internal team continues to own day-to-day support. Explore our cybersecurity services.
Can Atomic Guardian help with projects without becoming our MSP?
Yes. Project and engineering assistance can be delivered as part of a Co-Managed relationship or another appropriately scoped engagement. For standalone projects, assessments and focused services, see our additional IT services and project pricing.
How is Co-Managed IT priced?
Pricing depends on the responsibility split, required expertise, users and devices, locations, coverage requirements and overall scope. Typical engagement areas include service-desk overflow, cybersecurity, infrastructure management, projects, escalation support or a combination of these services. Discuss your requirements to build the right model.
Where Does Your IT Team Need More Capacity?
We can start by identifying what your team handles well, where workload is accumulating, where specialist expertise is needed and where coverage or escalation gaps exist. Then we define a responsibility model around those needs.
